This Easter … Put Local Shops FIRST!

The NLPs new full-colour A5 Shop Local leaflet says that local shops are vital to the community.

The NLPs new full-colour A4 Shop Local poster.

THE NATIONAL LIBERAL PARTY has launched the latest stage of its ‘Shop Local’ campaign. Timed to coincide with Easter (weekend of 18-21st April), our outreach material includes a new full-colour A4 poster and a double-sided full-colour A5 leaflet.

As can be seen, both the poster and leaflet feature our latest ‘Shop Local’ slogan: This Easter … Put Local Shops FIRST!

The NLP leaflet explains why local shops are under threat:

High business rates, the recession, excessive red tape and the growth of out-of-town superstores have forced many local shops to close down.

It goes on to note that small shops are absolutely vital to the local community. This is expecially so for if you are “elderly, young mothers and those without public or private transport.” Local shops also provide the setting for neighbours and friends to meet, thus providing the ‘glue’ which binds communities together.

Those who’d like to see their local shops survive – and prosper – can help our ‘Shop Local’ campaign by following these three simple steps:

1. E-mail natliberal@aol.com and ask for FREE pdf copies of both our Put Local Shops FIRST! poster and leaflet. Print a few of each and distribute them around your area – and don’t forget to give your local shopkeeper a copy of both! Also, send on both pdfs to your friends, realtives and work colleagues and ask them to do the same.

2. Copy this article and put it on your Facebook page. Ask all of your Facebook friends to like and share it!

3. Copy the link to this article and put it on your Twitter account. Ask your followers to RT it.

Issue 4 of New Horizon On Its Way!

DOES YOUR SEXUALITY automatically determine your politics? Are gay people predestined to be ‘liberal-leftist’ in orientation whilst straight people are automatically more ‘conservative’ in outlook?

Both the ‘left’ and ‘right’ seem to think so. For instance, the ‘left’ (particularly groups like the Socialist ‘Workers’ Party) seem to believe that they have the monopoly when it comes to supporting gay rights and attracting gay support.

On the other hand, many on the ‘right’ would automatically reject – without a moments thought – anything said by, or relating to, gays. Indeed, as we have seen, some folks in groups like the United Kingdom Independence Party have blamed the storms and heavy floods (which occurred across Britain earlier this year) on the Government’s decision to legalise gay marriage!

But have both ‘left’ and ‘right’ got it completely wrong? Is it possible that there is some form of ‘Third Way’ beyond their static positions? Indeed, is it possible to be both gay and patriotic?

This is a subject that South Derbyshire-based Liam Clarke will be exploring in issue 4 of New Horizon (NH).

NH is the ideological online magazine of the National Liberal Party. It exists to promote – and provoke – thought and debate. It looks at the ideological foundations of National Liberalism and also questions the various orthodoxies of both ‘left’ and ‘right.’

Issue 4 of NH is currently in the planning stages and is scheduled to appear later this year. Those interested in developing (and promoting) National Liberal thought are invited to submit articles and reviews for possible publication. For more information, simply e-mail natliberal@aol.com

First Self-Determination Video!

THE NATIONAL LIBERAL PARTY – in conjunction with Nations without States – has produced the its first video relating to the forthcoming European elections!

The NLP is fighting the election under the banner of Self-Determination For All! And the video – issued at the very end of last month – has been produced to support the NLPs eight candidates who are standing in London.

The short video features a nice – and very apt – soundtrack and describes self-determination as a basic human right. It features some of our candidates, drawn from the diverse spectrum of London’s communities who are actively engaged in self-determination struggles around the world. The aim of the NLPs election campaign is threefold:

• To raise the profile of the principle of self-determination

• To raise the profile of specific self-determinist causes

• To provide oppressed nations and peoples, a direct front-line voice in the European Parliament and, in turn, in the arena of Europe wide politics.

This video has been put together by the NLPs Social Media team. More are planned – so keep your eyes peeled as one or two a week will soon be appearing! These will consist of short interviews with each candidate and general information relating to self-determination. The videos will run right up to the European elections, which are scheduled for May 22.

The Social Media team would really appreciate any feedback – good, bad or indifferent – and would particularly appreciate any ideas (especially concerning images and soundtracks) for future videos.

• HELP us viral it out using Social Media. Put it on your Facebook page or promote it via Twitter. Also ask your friends, relatives and workmates to do the same.

English Voice 2 Says Self-Determination For The English Nation!
ISSUE TWO of English Voice – the Voice of the National Liberal Party in England – is out now!

The main article sets out the National Liberal Party’s vision of England. Like all genuine self-determinists we don’t want to dominate or ‘lord it up’ over others. All we really want is a little place to call our own – a place where ordinary Englishmen and women can live in accordance with their traditions, customs and way of life.

This Anglocentric stance doesn’t mean that we oppose or hate others. We just want to preserve and protect England’s distinct nature. Unlike globalists, we have no wish or desire to see England look like every other nation under the sun. This would make us soulless and bland. Our quirks and customs make England (and the English) unique.

With its rejection of jingoism, supremacy and Empire, English Voice attempts to blow out of the water the stereotypical view of English nationalists and patriots as beer-swilling, extreme right-wing racists who’re only capable of chanting ‘En-ger-land’ at international football matches.

To reinforce this message, the cover of EV2 features dramatic artwork – a phoenix rising from the ashes of a dying (British) Empire, with the Cross of St. George in the background.

With this in mind, another article in EV notes that it wants to fight Anglophobia – where the establishment seems to portray any pride in England and the English in a wholly negative and derogatory manner” by producing pro-English media (on at least) a monthly basis.

Shop Local This Easter!

THE National Liberal Party will be encouraging people to Shop Local This Easter! It will be the latest phase in the NLPs long-term campaign in support of local shops, small businesses and the self-employed.

The campaign will remind shoppers that all local shops are under threat.  High business rates, the recession, excessive red-tape and the growth of out-of-town superstores have forced many local shops to close down.

The NLP educational and outreach material will explain the importance of local shops – especially for the elderly, young mothers and those without cars.  In addition, they provide the setting for meeting neighbours and friends – thus providing the ‘glue’ that helps to maintain any community.

•  IN ADDITION to our new Easter campaign, keep your eyes peeled for a series of articles looking at previous phases of the NLPs Shop Local campaign.
