From The Liberty Wall – St. George’s Committee – Promoting English Heritage and Culture

The 2013 Stone Cross St George’s Parade held in West Bromwich. This is the largest St. George’s Day celebration in the world

AFTER many years, the people of England are now rising and celebrating their great heritage, culture and Identity.

Supporting this, the St. George’s Committee, an independent patriotic network is doing all it can to develop an informal network, where anyone who loves England and its heritage can join with others and celebrate.

Occasions the St. George’s Committee (SGC) has supported have included the Stone Cross St George’s Parade, the largest celebration in the world with over 25,000 people attending. If every a patriot is in doubt about the rising English awareness, then please attend this event, it will not only amaze you, by the shear size of it, but it will also inspire you to action in our fight for equality, freedom and justice for England.

More than simply celebrating St. George’s Day, the SGC seeks to build a national network of local committee’s, where patriots can meet together and promote English heritage, culture and Identity. We seek to provide a platform and network to support patriots and develop awareness.

We seek to educate and already the SGC has donated cards and educational posters to schools, providing information and resources to the young, offering them an insight into the great history of England.

But this is only the start, with our long-term goal being the establishment of English community centres, where we can provide local communities with a place to come together, welcoming of all where we can look into activities and support for those with England in their hearts.

To do this the SGC needs dedicated people, many of us have busy lives, with work and family, but we also need to have fun, relax and enjoy ourselves and what better way to do this than in the company of like minded people. Sadly in many of our cities and towns now, there is no longer that community spirit or support. This is something we need to redevelop and build upon.

So if you can spare a few hours a month, why not look to develop a local SGC in your area, we can all do something, so why not get involved and build a local committee?

From The Liberty Wall – English Green – Stop The Badger Cull!

ENVIRONMENTALISTS and animal lovers will be aware that the Government is intent on culling around 70% of Badgers in Britain in an attempt to eradicate TB. The effectiveness of culling is disputed – so much so that well over 200,000 people have signed a petition opposing the cull. And at the beginning of this month, around 2,000 people demonstrated – in Central London – against the cull. The following article is by an English Green supporter who attended the demo.

ON SATURDAY June 1st, the day the pilot cull licences came into effect, a group of over 2,000 people, mostly dressed in black and white, gathered outside the Tate Gallery in London to join a protest rally against the Government’s planned Badger Cull. Many carried banners, some were dressed as badgers, and some wore the badger face-masks that were being given out.

Prior to the planned march, a petition signed by 234,000 people was delivered to Downing Street by a group of celebrities and representatives from animal welfare groups. Before the march formed up speeches were heard from various animal welfare groups including Animal Aid, London Against the Cull, and the Hunt Saboteurs Association. They were followed by celebrity speakers including the actress Virginia McKenna, a long term campaigner from the Born Free foundation, and the rock guitarist Brian May, who has been a leading figure in the campaign against the cull since setting up the group Save Me!, now part of the wider coalition of groups campaigning under the collective banner of Team Badger.

Brian spoke passionately about the latest scientific evidence that shows that culling of wildlife has never eradicated TB in any country in the world. He also argued that the revised costs of policing the cull now prove culling will be more costly than the alternative of a badger vaccination programme as is currently being used in Wales. He said “[A]t the end of all this misery, paid for by farmers, while the taxpayer continues to pay for compensation when breakdowns occur, TB will still be there. Farmers will still be suffering, cows will still be suffering, and the badger will be a pitiful remnant, their social structure forever destroyed, a tragic ghost of a species that was native in Britain long before we were”. His speech won loud applause from the huge crowd and can be read in full on his website www.brianmay.com

Following the speeches the march set off for Westminster, with a group of dancers dressed as badgers setting the pace and loudspeakers leading the many chants and meeting with support from passersby. Unfortunately half way round the route the police came to the front of the march and advised stewards that they would be rerouting us to avoid a clash with other protests in the vicinity of Westminster. This resulted in the march being diverted to some back streets and our route cut short. Most people accepted this and headed to St James Park for a planned picnic, but a few decided on a detour to Westminster where a straw effigy of Owen Paterson the Environment Minister was burned. The group protested for a while then left, this was otherwise a trouble free protest that was well supported and showed just how much public opposition there is to this cull.

So what now? The Badger Trust continues to look at all aspects of the cull for a “realistic chance of successful legal action” to halt it in its tracks, whilst DEFRA looks to increase the cull zone, Owen Paterson told Farmers Weekly that “[I]f the two pilot culls are declared efficient, safe and humane, we will definitely be extending them. We will roll out ten new cull zones next year and ten more in each of the next three years”. He admits a realistic reduction in TB will require 20-25 years of hard culling. Some now question if the badger might end up extinct under such a long term threat. The evidence now suggests culling will cost more than a badger vaccine programme, it will take longer to prove effective, and offer very limited reductions in TB in cattle herds, compared with better bio security. The scientific, economic and moral arguments no longer support a cull, yet the Government are still pushing ahead with it, so as the first shots are due any day now, the battle for Old Brock moves from the well humoured protest march into the heart of the cull zones – the killing fields!

From The Liberty Wall – Nations Without States – What Must Be Done (4)
WHAT MUST BE DONE (4): Welcome to issue 4 of What Must Be Done, the publically-available organising bulletin of Nations without States. NwS supporters are asked to read – and more importantly – act upon the instructions detailed below.

NATION – ISSUE 1 – HARD COPY: The first issue of Nation – the ‘Newsletter of Nations without States’ – was published towards the end of last month. Many thanks are due to those NwS supporters who made donations towards printing costs. The publication of Nation represents a small (but very important) step forward for self-determinists throughout the world.

As can be seen, this issue prominently displays the flags of 30 nations who feel that they are being oppressed in one way or another. They include Balochistan, Catalonia, England, Matebeleland, Panjaab, Rif, Sabah, Sarawak, Sindh, Tamil Eelam and West Papua.

Nation declares that “all nations and peoples have the right to self-determination. The right to determine one’s destiny is universal. This includes the right of nations and peoples to choose their own political status as well as their own form of economic, cultural and social development.”

It notes that exercising the right to self-determination “will probably signal the end of many Empires and Superstates.”

Nation goes on to describe the various forms of oppression suffered by those who fight for self-determination. It concludes by stating that self-determinists of the world must unite and fight. “We need to follow a strategy which will be conducted both on the street and in the corridors of power.”

It is essential that we get all 2000 copies of Nation into the hands of self-determinist activists as soon as possible. They can then distribute it at various demonstrations and meetings. To get hold of your copy/copies simply send a Private Message to Graham Williamson via Facebook or e-mail Nations without States: nationswstates@aol.co.uk

NATION – ISSUE 1 – PDF COPY: As Nation is printed on glossy paper it’s very expensive to post abroad. However, supporters of Nations without States who live outside of the UK can still get hold of a copy! Simply e-mail Graham Williamson at nationswstates@aol.co.uk or send him a Private Message via Facebook – and ask for your FREE pdf copy of Nation.

From The Liberty Wall – Nations without States – Issue 1 of Nation Coming Soon!
ANYONE who has read the Nations without States Activists Leaflet (1) will know that NwS recognises that it doesn’t yet have the resources to fight – on an equal footing – those governments who are opposed to self-determination. Therefore, NwS has to “conduct a political guerilla war based on a strategy of building different forms of counter-power. Basically we’re going to have to create a parallel system that belongs to the people and not our oppressors.”

The first act of this “political guerilla war” relates to educating both activists and the public and winning the Public Relations war. To do this, NwS intends to build the infrastructure of an alternative mass media of news and entertainment. We cannot rely on the establishment media to help us promote self-determination – so we’ll have to do it ourselves!”

NwS has made a small start in the right direction. It has a growing and very active and informative Facebook page (2). And it has produced a Activists Leaflet (mentioned above), What Must Be Done, a publically-available organising bulletin (3 – 5) as well as both a printed and pdf version of issue 1 of Freedom – ‘the Street Paper of Nations without States’.

As we noted in a previous article (6) Freedom was designed to appeal to those who read the ‘Red Tops’ like the Sun, Star and Mirror.

However, as part of our overall strategy of building an alternative media, NwS recognises that it also has to ‘reach out’ to those who read middle-market papers like the Daily Mail and Daily Express and those who read the quality ‘Broadsheets’ like the Times, Telegraph and Guardian.

With this in mind, NwS is now working on producing issue 1 of Nation, which will be written to a Daily Mail and Daily Express level.

We understand that this issue of Nation will feature around 30 flags of oppressed nations and highlight the need for all self-determinists to unite. A policy of ‘Unity Through Diversity’ will help self-determinists co-ordinate campaigns, share ideas, experiences and tactics. It will also provide the framework for self-determinists to systematically build the foundations of a movement, capable of mounting a sustained campaign over many years, against those who would deny the various nations and peoples around the world their freedom.

We understand that NwS will be releasing more exciting news concerning this forthcoming issue of Nation in the very near future. As soon as we know anything we will let you know!

In the meantime, we would direct readers to the artwork on this page, which prominently features a black flag. This black flag represents those activists and innocent civilians who have been – and who still are being – killed, ‘disappeared’ or tortured by various oppressive regimes around the world. (Indeed, at the very end of last month, NwS activists supported a demonstration in Central London, calling for freedom for Balochistan, merged with Pakistan in 1948, and for an end to Pakistani death squads and disappearances of Balochs and persecution in Iran.) NwS has produced this artwork as a mark of respect to both honour their memory and mourn their loss.

From The Liberty Wall – English Green – New E-Poster!
ENGLISH GREEN has just produced another e-poster; it shows that both capitalism and socialism are equally responsible for environmental misuse and destruction.
Currently, the main focus of English Green is educational. However, it aims to turn its supporters into activists as well. Tim Bragg, the founder of and spokesman for English Green says:
I trust that everyone will help send this message out; alerting others interested in the environment and animal welfare to the existence of English Green.
For the record, English Green understands that the notion of socialism vs capitalism is outdated. We feel that the argument has and must move beyond the boundaries of traditional political beliefs. We need to become both idealistic and pragmatic. However, we recognise that there are lots of potential supporters who as yet remain caught up in this political polarisation.”

Mass media helps perpetuate the continuing notion of “left versus right”; the challenge facing English Green is to involve everyone in the fight for human, animal and environmental welfare. Folk can become trapped in a “them and us” view of their country and indeed the world – but we’re all in this together. Left or right – we face the same challenges; it’s time to move on.

English Green is concerned with England’s environment and its people and animals. Non-green ideology is for others (though we can certainly comment) and non-English green matters are for other nation’s Green movements. But we intend to link to and have networks with all like-minded Green groups. English Green is specific to England but will be part of a new global green national patchwork.
