General Election Update.

.

AS MANY people will be aware, the British General Election is scheduled for later this year.  Unless the House of Commons votes for an earlier date – which is thought highly unlikely – it will be held on 7 May.  Here all 650 seats will be up for grabs.

We’ve previously announced that Sockalingam ‘Yogi’ Yogalingam will be standing for the National Liberal Party in the constituency of Ruislip, Northwood & Pinner, which is situated in outer North West London.

His Election Agent has just been confirmed as Graham Williamson, who, like Yogi, is a member of the National Liberal Party’s National Council and the Organising Committee of Nations without States.  Graham is also editor of the NLPs ideological magazine, New Horizon, as well as joint-editor of the long established and well respected Fourth World Review – 4WR.

We also hope to be standing a candidate in West London as well.  Further details will be released as and when we have them.

Like Yogi, our West London candidate will be promoting the message of National Freedom and Social Justice.  At the heart of the NLPs General Election campaign will be the right of all people to National and Political Self-Determination.

At the moment, the National Liberal Party is working on its campaign infrastructure.  This includes fundraising (we need £500 for each deposit and a bare minimum of £1500 for each campaign) writing, producing and distributing ‘warm up’ leaflets and initial canvassing.

The NLPs Manifesto for the General Election is also in its initial stages and – true to our belief in true democracy – will be up for intense discussion and debate before it is officially adopted.

With the above in mind, the NLPs National Council asks all members and supporters to:

• MAKE a donation to our General Election campaign.  To stand just two candidates in London – and to run the ‘bare bones’ of an effective campaign – we need a minimum of £4000.  Anything on top of this would be a great bonus!

To help our campaign please send a donation – no matter how big or small – via http://nationalliberal.org/the-party-organisation/donate (note General Election Campaign as a reference), by cheque to NLP, c/o PO Box 4217, Hornchurch RM12 4PY, or pledge via natliberal@aol.com

• HELP with the writing, production and promotion of the National Liberal Party’s Manifesto.  If you have any policies that you feel we should include in our manifesto, please let us know, so that they can be included for discussion.

Send your ideas – as soon as possible – to natliberal@aol.com
