White Dee And The British Political & Financial Establishment.

Deirdre Kelly enjoying herself in Magaluf, Majorca. According to the media, she is – effectively – a benefits cheat. But even if this true, is she really any different from the super-rich elite?

WHITE DEE – Deirdre Kelly – has been in the news recently.  For those who don’t know, she appeared in the Channel 4 reality TV show Benefits Street. (1)  Broadcast at the start of this year, it followed the lives of families who lived in James Turner Street in Birmingham where there “are 99 houses, 13 nationalities, and most of the residents are claiming benefits.” (2)  Indeed, it’s estimated that only 5 per cent of the residents are working.

Kelly, 42, is one of the 95 per cent not working.  She claims she is too depressed to work. According to the Metro, she receives state handouts “estimated at £20,000 a year, which include £214 a week from her Employment and Support Allowance, Child Tax Credit and Child Benefit, as well as £500 a month Housing Benefit.” (3)

The reason why she hit the headlines recently is because she was photographed enjoying herself in Magaluf, Majorca.  According to some reports this has led to her having some of her benefits cut.

We cannot comment on her specific case, as we don’t really know her personal circumstances.  All we know of her is what we glean from the media – and to soley rely on this would be stupid in the extreme.

However, what we can say is that some people are certainly on the ‘fiddle.’  They are claiming benefits when they are perfectly able to work.  One thing is for sure – we need to go beyond the screaming headlines and articles that are full of allegations, speculation and rumour, but very low on facts.  Indeed, we need to sort out the causes – not just the symptoms – of their and our problems.

So why do some people think that it’s ok to fiddle the system?

We feel that one reason is that these folks operate in the belief that ‘What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.’  Basically, their thinking is that if a particular type of behaviour is acceptable for one person, it should also be acceptable for another person.

And it’s not too hard to see where they get their ‘inspiration’ from.  For one only has to take a look at the political and financial establishment in Britain.  Cast your mind back a few years when the parliamentary expenses scandal (4) first came to light.  Here, various politicians seemed to be living the life of riley by claiming for everything under the sun – and more!

Areas of corncern included nominating second homes re-designating second homes, renting out homes, over-claiming for council tax on second home, subsidising property development, claiming expenses while living in ‘grace and favour’ homes, renovating and furnishing properties when standing down, furnishing of other homes, exploiting the ‘no receipt’ rule, over-claiming for food and overspending at the end of the financial year.

And the expenses scandal still hasn’t gone away.  In April, Culture Secretary Maria Millar had to resign when she was “caught effectively fleecing the taxpayer of tens of thousands of pounds.(5)

Those involved in the financial establishment are no better.

The super-rich elite are still by-and-large getting away with various tax scams.  Fortunately (for them!) they can afford an army of lawyers and accountants who can exploit every loop hole in the book.  Indeed, we feel that the recent scandal involving Gary Barlow and others (6) is just the tip of the iceberg.

If “we’re all in this together” (as Cameron and Clegg claim) shouldn’t this tiny minority also pay their way as well?  National Liberals are not opposed to anyone earning more than the national average.  However, we expect them to pay their fair share.

Let’s be honest, none of us like paying taxes – and in many respects we agree with CH Douglas who, in Warning Democracy, noted that “Modern taxation is legalised robbery.” (7) But if the vast majority – ordinary working families – have to pay tax down the the very last penny, then so should this tiny minority wjo make up the financial elite.

When we put all of this in context, we feel that many folks who’re fraudulently claiming benefits are really only ‘emulating’ the wide-boys who currently form our political and financial elite.

How we reverse this situation will take a lot of political thought.  It will then require a lot of political action.  As always, we’d appreciate your views.  Get in touch with the National Liberal Party today.  Simply visit www.nationalliberal.org and don’t forget to check out Facebook/National Liberals.

A Q&A to Graham Williamson

Graham Williamson is a member of the National Council and was one of the eight candidates that stood for the National Liberal Party in the London Region in the recent European Parliamentary elections. At some point he was accused by a partisan journalist of being a ‘far-right’ activist. Following the election we interviewed him on the campaign.

.

What do think of the results of the election and the campaign in general?

Last year a number of us in the pressure group Nations without States discussed whether the cause of Self-determination (SD) could benefit by fighting an election campaign. We knew that we could use the campaign to profile individual causes and the principle of SD. We were able to raise the deposit (£5k) and pay for 1m leaflets which were delivered ‘free’ by the Royal Mail. We believe we achieved that goal and SD has become a political issue in the UK (albeit small). We also knew that whilst most people were unlikely to actually vote on the issue, members of the SD communities may do so? In the end 6,736 did. It wasn’t a record breaking figure but in time with growing awareness of the party and credibility plus greater resources/materials and experience it shall be!

In the campaign you were personally attacked as being ‘far-right’?

I was in the National Front some 25 years ago. I had originally joined as a student. In the 1980’s it had split into factions. The one I was in was largely composed of young people who attempted to break out of that party’s negative image by making their (the faction’s) objection to racism explicit. However, it became clear that the negativity was simply to strong and the image unsalvageable. The group decided to close itself down in 1989.

My political journey had already begun in the 1980’s and continued from 1990 when I helped form a ‘Think-Tank’ called Third Way which largely focused on economic issues. In 2005 I co-authored a book entitled ‘Progressive Nationalism’ which criticised far-right parties such as UKIP and the BNP for pursuing reactionary or racist policies whilst still claiming to be ‘patriotic’. My belief that the personal liberty of a nation’s citizens is paramount and that this liberty is best preserved by a democratic nation state, led to the formation of the National Liberal Party in 2006. This was reformed in 2013, under a new multi-ethnic National Council, as the National Liberal Party-True Liberalism. It has been a long journey.

Unfortunately, it seems that some are not prepared to accept that people can change/develop their political opinions. It is sloppy journalism often motivated by their own political prejudice.

Why do they ignore your present views?

By and large the individuals who ‘researched’ and wrote a C4 article and forwarded anonymous ones to whoever they could, were motivated by political malice. They are not neutral observers. Such people believe in the primacy of ‘class struggle’ and do not believe in national identity, which at best they see as an obstacle to their Marxist utopia or at worst as racist or xenophobic (I’m not sure whether they actually believe it or feel it is a convenient slur i.e. Ends justifying the means etc.). Such critics never discuss our views/policies because it would undermine their narrative.

Ironically, the far-left have tried to hijack national liberation movements for their own class-war ends but have failed miserably because the latter are motivated by love of nation/people rather than class. Perhaps they were motivated by jealousy of our success, compared to them, in promoting self-determination?

They are not averse to invention too. The refer to an Italian (Fiore) who I barely knew, as being my mentor in promoting national liberation movements, in inspiring the name of the Third Way and even the National Liberal party’s election campaign! None of this is true and no evidence was presented.

They criticised the Third Way for a leaflet it allegedly produced last year yet ignored the fact that it had split from the NLP when Patrick Harrington parted from us as far back as 2009?

They criticise me for working for a Trade Union they say the BNP is favourable to? They ignore that fact that it has many ethnic minority members, fights cases of racial discrimination and takes a progressive political view.

They even criticised my facebook friends. I must confess of those thousand, only a few are known personally to me, but I do know they chose to ignore that the majority are from the ethnic minority community. Clutching at straws springs to mind.

In other words the articles are written to attack me and thus the party rather than find out the truth, especially if it doesn’t fit with their own prejudice and beliefs. I felt sorry for my fellow candidates for I was only one of eight and one of four/five members of the National Council yet chose to concentrate on me. It was touching however to find all of them rallying in my support and dismissing the attack as political muck-raking.

What’s next?

Since the campaign, more and more nations and their representatives have come forward to support the party and the pressure group. We now hope to contest seats in the next General Election, some of them on the issue of self-determination. In general, the future of the movement lies in the hands of the young and we hope to launch a youth wing very soon. In terms of leadership I very much buy into the belief that a member of the self-determinist community will one-day emerge as one of a number of charismatic ‘leaders’ of the party. (See the article ‘Where is Britain’s Obama?’ http://nationalliberal.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/NH3.pdf).

HISTORY IN YOUR HANDS!

This Thursday (May 22nd) you have a chance of making history by voting for self-determination. This is why we call the day – Self-Determination Day!

If we can obtain over 200,000 votes you can elect an MEP to the European Parliament to take your/others national causes to a new level.

For the first time self-determinists are working together because there is strength in unity and whilst one group of Diasporas is not strong enough to make a difference on their own, the many are.

Despite our limited resources and inexperience our campaign has been a refreshing change to the establishment’s usual policies of smear and blame. In this election we stand for the principle of self-determination, nothing less nothing more. Furthermore, if elected we will be taking a team of eight to Brussels to research, lobby and raise everyone’s profile without fear or favour.

You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Vote National Liberal Party-Self-determination for all! on May 22nd. Future generations depend on it!

Organise To Oppose The Cuts!
.
CAPITALISM is a highly unstable social, economic and political system. It fluctuates between boom and bust at fairly regular intervals. Here the ‘good times’ are always followed by the ‘bad times.’ Capitalism also allows for poverty amongst plenty. This is where our shops, supermarkets and warehouses are overflowing with goods – but people don’t have the money to buy them.

Capitalism is also a system that’s always stacked in favour of a very tiny minority as opposed to the vast majority. At the moment it’s a system in crisis. Its inherent contradictions are there for everyone to see. It is delivering austerity for the majority and unimaginable wealth for a few at the top. Inevitably people are questioning the whole system.

The Con-Dem government’s Austerity Agenda is Cameron and Clegg’s way of addressing the recession and its aftermath. However, ordinary working people know that they weren’t responsible for the recession. Yet we’re at the sharp end its effects. Single parents, the unemployed, the disabled and youngsters are really being hit hard.

Euro Candidate defects to the NLP and offers a statement to ‘London Welsh’ voters

The European election campaign has been hotting up. One million leaflets are being delivered by the Royal Mail, adverts are going out and activists are knocking on doors. The response is very favourable and, if people actually bother to vote, we could be in for a surprise Sunday evening (when the results are announced). We are also being contacted by other political groups and individuals interested in our message.
.
We were delighted therefore to be contacted by Laurence Williams, a Welshmen by descent and member of the Plaid Glyndwr party. He is also standing as a candidate in the European elections in the London Region for the Christian Peoples Alliance. Laurence said he was drawn to our campaign, has joined the party, and is now urging all Welshmen & women living in London to for the National Liberal Party – Self-determination for all!
.

A message from a Euro-candidate to the ‘London Welsh’
.
Pobl,
.
I would urge you to very much consider voting for the National Liberal Party in the forthcoming EU Elections in the London Region. Considering the NLP’s ‘Lloyd Georgian’ parentage and their stance on smaller Nations’ Self Determination, it makes an obviously clear choice for Welsh people in the capital to remember the ‘Green, Green grass of Home’ when casting their vote!
.
Wales and the Welsh people have so much to offer and do not have to remain third or even fourth choice to Westminster behind England, Scotland and Northern Ireland! In the 21st Century, Y Draigoch [ Red Dragon ] is alive and well and still singing in the hillsides!
.
Diolch yn Fawr / thank you very much
.
.
Laurence Williams

Ten Of The Best!
.
EARLIER this month we noted that the National Liberal Party (NLP) is opposed to ‘gesture politics’ and that we have absolutely no interest in the “futile position adopted by groups on both the ‘left’ and ‘right.’” This consists of “screaming, shouting and macho–posturing. Normally groups who follow this line are more interested in ‘hitting the headlines’ than actually following a strategy of careful thought and action.”

The NLP believes that we can encourage and promote this strategy of careful thought and action by engaging “in rational debate, constructive critiscm and to encourage feedback – good, bad or indifferent.” That’s one of the reasons why we’ve reproduced ‘bite size’ pieces of our Manifesto for the forthcoming European-Elections.

However, we’ve been promoting debates for a long time now. Indeed, in March we completed our tenth debate.

If you want to check out the terms of each debate – and the subject matter itself – simply click on any of the links below. Normally each individual debate is held on the National Liberals Facebook page. However, as some of these debates are over a year old, if you now wish to comment on them, simply go to the National Liberals Facebook page and post them in the comments section under this article. You can find it here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/52739504313/

• Look out for our next debate which’ll pose the question: Outside of London (where the NLP is standing) who should National Liberals vote for in the Euro-Elections? Keep your eyes peeled for this debate as it’ll be coming soon!
